I think I may have been the second or third call Lindsay made when she got engaged to Mike! She'd been in a wedding I'd shot several years back and knew without a doubt that she wanted me to be her wedding photographer. The only hitch was that she was getting married in Chicago. So what's a Michigan wedding photographer to do? Become a Chicago wedding photographer, of course. You'll see this slideshow also appears in my destination wedding photography section because of course, that's what it was for me. Any time I have to travel more than two hours from Troy, Michigan, it becomes a destination wedding as I have to stay put for the night after the wedding. If a wedding that's further away from Troy, Michigan, then I can't very well book a wedding the following day, so couples are effectively hiring me for the two days. So I arrived in Chicago in plenty of time to shoot their wedding rehearsal in Downtown Chicago at the Holy Family Parish Church which connected to the school Mike went to all through school.

Both their Chicago wedding rehearsal and their actual wedding day were record breaking days in Chicago for the terrible heat. Holy Family Parish Church in Chicago is gorgeous and un airconditioned, so a 95 degree day wasn't exactly a great scenario for this Chicago wedding couple. Needless to say the church is very dark and in this case, that really helped keep things cool. My Chicago wedding couple braved the heat for some cool outdoor photos off their hotel's balcony downtown Chicago featuring the skyline as well as the set of the Transformers. I think Mike would have been happy to have all their Chicago wedding photos feature the movie's set, but we moved on from their hotel to the Bean which, although a popular spot for Chicago wedding photography, was radiating so much heat, all these Chicago wedding photos were accomplished within five minutes.

Their Chicago wedding reception was right next door to the Holy Family Parish Church at St. Ignatius where Mike went to school. It was a great location, and you can see from all the reception photos that this was a Chicago wedding reception to remember. Despite the ridiculous heat, St. Ignatius’s wedding reception hall stayed nice and cool for their wedding reception. The warm in these wedding photos has little to do with the blistering heat of that Chicago day and everything to do with the warmth Lindsay and Mike generate with their friends and family.
