Some wedding photographers in Michigan might not like shooting at the Michigan League because it's a bit of a challenge to get all our photography gear into the venue. But it's got a charming little courtyard, incredible stain glass, a quad nearby. In other words, there are lots of great wedding photo opportunities for Michigan wedding photographers to take advantage of. It's also one of the most challenging venues to light properly that has the best pay off when you get it right!
I shoot in Ann Arbor as a wedding photographer often. Most receptions in Ann Arbor for University of Michigan grads are held at either the Michigan League or the Michigan Union. The Michigan League is a bit easier as a place to shoot for a wedding photographer. There are multiple places to shoot at and I like that I can augment my lighting from the balcony above. Don't let the Michigan League coordinators let you do your bouquet toss from the balcony. It may feel cool, but it picks up quite a bit of speed on the way down and it's impossible to get a photo of the bride tossing it from up there and the person catching it. Just my two cents about wedding photography at the Michigan League!
I like taking wedding photos at the Michigan League where the hall can easily accommodate many guests and it stays nice and cool during the summer. Parking is always a bit of an issue here, so be prepared to walk a ways to your car when you're through with the wedding.
