I shot Melissa and Bob's engagement photos well in advance of their fall Michigan wedding. I think I shot more engagement photos of my couples this year than any other year and I've got to say. It really does help set couple's more at ease. We get a full luxurious hour to take engagement photos (compared to the 15 minutes we get on their Michigan wedding day), so they get to learn how to speak Marci and we can use that same short hand the day of the wedding. We even got photos of their dog worked into the day (which made Bob very happy!). Bob's not a super fan of having his photo taken, but he knew me well enough by their wedding day to know that I'd shoot what I needed and move on as soon as I got what I needed. That allowed us to take wedding photos in two locations in Birmingham, Michigan (where they live) and still take more wedding photography at the Detroit Golf Club where their wedding reception was.

The Detroit Golf Club photographs really well for wedding receptions. Not only do they have a pretty golf course, but the antiquated building lends itself well to unique photos. They had a live band, the Good Gravy Band, (which I was lucky enough to work with twice this year) and that got the party into full swing really quickly. Their wedding day flew by in a blur, which doesn't happen that often for this Michigan wedding photographer. I'm used to having the wedding day go at a certain pace, so I know they packed a whole lot of happiness into a really quick time span!
