I love that Melanie and Ben were able to meld their backgrounds, their shared story with each other and still pay homage to her Shrine upbringing all in one glorious day. Their wedding ceremony was held at the National Shrine of the Little Flower church in Royal Oak with one of her Shrine school buddies officiating (yeah, he’s a legit priest… no online ordination there) and one of her other Shrine friends singing during the ceremony as well (beautiful, gorgeous voice that actually filled the entire cavernous church!).

This can be a difficult church to light to do it justice, but with the flexibility of her priest, I was able to light it really well.

You’ll see my wedding photos from this University of Michigan and Church of the Little Flower wedding looks a bit different from my other blog entries. Sure it’s great to showcase these wonderful locations, but there was something ultimately classic about Ben and Melanie, so I thought I’d post almost all of the photos that were taken at the University of Michigan before we headed into the Michigan Union for the reception. It started to rain, so we had a little alcove at the Law Quad to shoot in. Not a lot of space to stay dry, but I think you’ll agree… it did the trick nicely. I could wax poetic about the fun mix of redheads and Ethiopian families and how fun and laid back the wedding party was and how much fun we had, but let’s let these B&W photos tell the story a little differently. I’ve got plenty of other samples of wedding photos from the National Shrine of the Little Flower church and other wedding reception photos from the University of Michigan, so click those if you’re looking to see how my wedding photos look from those locations. For now, though, enjoy Melanie and Ben’s romance.
This blog featured University of Michigan Union wedding photos as well as a wedding ceremony from the National Shine of the Little Flower church.
