I arrived at the Salem Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor right on time, but nobody else showed up for almost an hour! I got nervous enough that I asked a cleaning person to call the minister to double check to make sure I was at the right place on the right day! Eventually everybody started showing up. Phil noticed some of his relatives were buried in the little cemetery out back and wanted some non creepy cemetery photos with the tombstones bearing his name. That's probably one of the most different requests I've even gotten as an Ann Arbor wedding photographer! I love the photos of Jenefer getting ready. This old church had beautiful stain glass and it was fun playing that up in the wedding photos. Okay, so now you want to know why there are so many photos of kids "behaving badly", right? Well, they were quiet, but they're kids and frankly, the one ring bearer didn't take his finger out of his nose the entire ceremony. So what's a good Ann Arbor wedding photojournalist to do? Capture each poke and prod, of course! Luckily when I showed all those photos at the reception on my slideshow, the parents died laughing! And the kid's nose picking was apparently contagious. All the other kids started picking their noses too! Fair game! Michigan wedding photography cheap shot? You bet! Stay tuned in case I put in a slideshow called "Awkward Wedding Photos".

The reception was held at Ann Arbor's Cobblestone Farm, where I am the photographer quite often. I loved the personal touches Jenefer and Phil incorporated into their Cobblestone Farms wedding reception. Zingerman's Catering handled the food and made Phil's grandmother's famous german potato salad recipe, and his other grandparent's favorite cake was bumpy cake from Bill Knapp's, so they had one of those as their cake to cut. They also had poppers on every table filled with silly paper hats, that ended up being a bit hit. Having a theater background, I love it when there is group participation. Zingerman's pulled off a fabulous event, as they always do at weddings and everybody left stuffed silly! One of the things I absolutely love about Zingerman's catering of weddings is that they are deeply involved with the wedding planning so when I'm the token Ann Arbor wedding photographer, I know that a wedding planned by the Zingerman's catering group will be perfectly handled and delight every single person in the room.
