Not only did I photograph more weddings in 2021 than I have in 10 years (there were a LOT of ones to squeeze in from 2020), but there was something in the air in 2021 (no, I'm NOT making a Cover-19 joke). Maybe it was the release to finally have some fun this year. Maybe it was families and friends getting together for the first time in over a year. I don't know exactly why, but 2021 was a spectacular year for weddings for me.

I had over 500 "favorite wedding images" in 2021. That never happens. I created FOUR wedding albums this year. That's never happened before. It broke my heart to have so many weddings just not well represented and I had a couple that did not want me to release any of their photos. Still, I ended up with 4 slideshows from 2021!

So here are just a sampling of my favorite wedding day portraits taking in 2021. The wedding season officially lasted all year, so just about every season is represented here. It snowed during a couple, the fall leaves were almost non existent this year (but still managed a little magic to get the most out of them as possible) and we sweat ourselves silly during two heat waves when it felt like if was over 105 degrees. You'd never know which those were in the galleries, but I have to say, my clients are CHAMPS!

I had connected more with my clients in 2021 than any other year. More went into the planning (or replanning and replanning as many needed to). I had more engagement sessions than a typical year. So I went into almost every wedding having spoken or written to couples many, many times. I think it shows in the images.

When I see something interesting, or potential for something different, I will grab my clients with a quick "we need to more NOW". And they responded. Every time. A huge cloud bearing down on us? Sure! A moon rising? Why not? Capturing that blue at dusk that I love so much? Absolutely. My clients this year trusted me so much to deliver to them several epic portraits that are created especially for them to showcase their venue (and I saw a LOT of new ones this year which is unique for me), take advantage of the weather or the light or something doing on that spoke to me about their day. Not a single client said, "No thanks, we're all set."

The kind of trust and faith that I was going to deliver fun, unique wedding portraits that showcased them at their best and told a story about their wedding day was amazing.

I'm so thankful for the fantastic 2021 wedding couples and their fabulous friends and family. That's the next album. Wedding guests! I've never done THAT before!
