Photography Portfolios Created for Models, Actors,
Politicians, Business Owners and Theater Head Shots
Looking to update your headshots or create a new portfolio for all your print and digital needs?
Headshots have come a long way from simple photos shot in a studio. If you want to capitalize on the latest contemporary trend, you have to create a portfolio of all your looks so you can change them up depending on the audience you're trying to appeal to at any given time. I create a lot of different images for each of my photography sessions. I'm looking at not just your expressions, but your body language as well to showcase your strengths and show the diversity in your personality. This way you can submit different photos depending on the feedback you get. This is especially true for actors, performers, models and politicians trying to create a portfolio they can change up at a moment's notice and to keep their look and brand current.
Both my marketing and theater backgrounds help to put you through your paces so when you apply for jobs and want to show the variety of looks you have, you already have one solid portfolio of images to show agents, agencies and people looking to hire you. These will need to be redone every year or so depending on how much you change your look. These are NOT glamor photos. They must really and truly represent you. Just the best version of you. That's why creating a lot of different looks and emotions is key for creating a really diverse portfolio for your acting, modeling and professional career.
Usually I can accomplish everything you'll need within an hour's "headshot" photography session. These are different from senior photos. Not the technical aspects, but what I'm highlighting, the backgrounds and what's being conveyed in all your micro expressions. They are also tighter and need to be more emotion based. No tricks to hide behind. We want to showcase you and what you'll bring to an talent agent or modeling agency's project or to your new employer.

Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Headshot and Modeling Photography Sessions
If you change your hair color and/or hairstyle often, realize that you will need to have your main set of headshots redone every time. You MUST look like yourself. Agents and agencies are dealing with many, many clients and if they pitch a blonde with long hair, they will be looking through portfolios for just such a person. If you don't look in real life what you look like in your photos, get them redone.
Bring a variety of clothing and not a lot of accessories. No logos or branding should be visible. Nothing super trendy, no loud patterns. Men, watch your facial hair. Trends change quickly. Clean cut is always the best option unless you're applying for a "Beard of the Year" award! If you wear glasses, find something neutral. The styles also change a lot and so try to keep them as not a factor as possible. Even better, wear contacts or frames without glass.
If you are an actor or an aspiring model, NEVER pay an agent or agency up front. Legitimate agents and agencies collect their fees once they find you work. They take a cut or percentage of the fees (how much varies wildly) AFTER they've found you work. If they are promising to get you work only after you've paid them fees, they are bogus. ALWAYS! Many of these scam places insist you need to pay for lessons and headshots from them in order to get bookings. Headshots are indeed an investment, but that is something you can shop around yourself. If they insist you must pay them to place you in front of people, they are not legitimate.
Why would a politician want a variety of images? Creating an affable, honest, dependable, but approachable look is super challenging and you'll want to be able to change up your social media and print media according to the responses you've gotten from potential voters and what your team wants you to project to the public.
If you're a business person who is looking to get a good portfolio of images for all of your social media, website, LinkedIn or even Match.com needs, let me photograph you for an hour. You are a spectacularly unique person with lots of different facets to your personality. You wouldn't want your Facebook page photo to be the same as your business website photo and you probably wouldn't want either of those on a dating website. So let me cover lots of bases during an hour's session so you've got a big variety of images to showcase you and all your talents.
