Cranbrook Senior Photos for Cranbrook Students Only!
I've been photographing senior portraits at the Cranbrook School campus in Bloomfield, Michigan location for a few years, and it really is like "Michigan's Hogwarts". I receive requests continually from clients who wish to use Cranbrook's amazing school grounds for photos. I'm sorry to report that this is only available to current Cranbrook students.

Cranbrook School grounds are amazing, but please keep in mind that there are strict photography policies in place that do not allow professional photography on their grounds. The only exceptions are either their list of 4 approved photographers (thing beaucoup bucks!) and if the subjects are current Cranbrook students. Unless you can secure permission on your own to allow me to photograph you on this campus, please know that I cannot photograph on their beautiful grounds. I offer many other locations that are beautiful and are great alternatives, so let's find one where we are welcome on their property.
Part of the issue that most of my clients don't seem to know or understand is that this is an active private school campus with students who live on campus. The Cranbrook School in Bloomfield, Michigan is not open or available to the general public. It is a private school and I am only available to students who attend the school! Can you imagine what would happen if we tried to shoot on a public school property when students were around? Think flashing blue and red lights. All things considered, it's amazing they let ANYONE from the public on their grounds.
You will find many, many photographers who are willing to take a risk of running into security or pretending they are just photographing for personal use (which oddly is allowed). I am not willing to do this. I understand that the safety of Cranbrook students absolutely trumps my need for a cool locations. I'm sorry that so many professional photographers push these limits and jeopardize the students so they can please their clients. It makes the rest of us look terrible! Sorry, Cranbrook for all the photographers who always seem to break your rules.
