I was hired to shoot Katie and Shane's Macomb County wedding by Katie's mother who was super versed in pulling together a wedding for her youngest daughter. Katie and Shane live outside Michigan (as do the bulk of my Michigan wedding photography clients), so they left the planning up to her mom (which is also unusual as most my brides and grooms like to do their wedding planning themselves). I loved their funky vibe. They had their wedding at the White Chapel in Macomb, Michigan and were treated to a rare sunny winter day in Michigan.

The White Chapel in Macomb doesn't have a very large area for the wedding ceremony and are always on a strict time limit, but we were able to get all the formal family photos out of the way before heading downtown Detroit for more photos. Katie's uncle was a caretaker for Belle Isle's conservatory, so we got permission to shoot there. It was a nice change from the 12 degree day, so the ladies didn't freeze to death during our Belle Isle, Michigan wedding photography shoot. In fact, the Belle Isle Conservatory was pretty balmy and had a nice jungle feel which fit both their personalities beautifully. Katie was a fan of this multiple exposure photo I had in one of my blog postings, so I recreated that type of shot both at Comerica Park and again out of Belle Isle, Detroit with the skyline of Detroit at dusk in the background. We headed to the wedding reception which was back in Macomb County, Michigan. Oh... we also made a funny pit stop for the potty in downtown Detroit's Big Boy which was fun for some silly photos.
