Angie and Eric's photos were taken at St. Alyicous, which I obviously can't spell. It's a beautiful old historic church in downtown Detroit, MI. Their reception was held at the Belle Isle Casino in downtown Detroit, Michigan which is in Oakland County which is where I do my wedding photography. Wedding photographers in Michigan often travel a long ways to provide wedding services to their couples and I'm not exception. I travel down to Belle Isle fairly often as a Michigan wedding photographer.
The Belle Isle Casino is a great location for a do it yourself kind of couple who can get a lot of hands on help from their friends and family. As a wedding photographer, I have heard from many clients that the staff at the Belle Isle Casino is not very responsive to queries and doesn't appear to be easy to get a hold of. This wedding went off without a hitch. I like the space and it works well for small weddings of an intimate nature. There are plenty of great places on Belle Isle and downtown Detroit where we can get interesting and unique wedding photos.
If you do book the Belle Isle Casino for your wedding location, check with your caterer to see what their feelings are towards this location to host your wedding. I would definitely recommend hiring a day of wedding coordinator at this location because the staff seems difficult to work with (or indifferent). I'm hoping they will make staff changes and get this grand place the shining rating in could so easily have as a wedding reception venue. Still, it is a great place to be a Detroit wedding photographer!
